‘Wale Irokosu is a sustainability-focused legal practitioner and cross-disciplinary thinker with expertise in litigation, electricity, capital markets, and commercial law. With almost 2 decades’ post-call experience, he is a co-Founder/Managing Partner, Probitas Partners LLP, one of the leading specialist law firms in Nigeria. He is also the Senior Partner, SQS Consulting (a tax advisory and strategy Firm); a co-Founder/Director, SQS Publishing, and Editor-in-Chief of the Electricity Law Reports.

‘Wale has an expansive insight into the dynamics of legal practice across the private sector, the public sector, and governmental institutions. With a commitment to building an enduring institution, ‘Wale led Probitas Partners to implement a groundbreaking corporate governance structure at the Firm, which has set a standard for the industry, with the setting up of an independent Advisory Board in 2015. The Board focuses on partnership admission, management performance reviews, succession planning, and dispute resolution. He has also implemented a triple-bottom-line reporting standard, which focuses on reporting on social and environment goals and not only financial bottom line. He has also led Probitas Partners to becoming a vertically integrated law firm with interests in affiliates in legal publishing, and tax/regulatory/strategy consulting.

‘Wale is a consummate public servant and currently serve on the National Executive Committee, Nigerian Bar Association(NBA); NBA Committee on Legal Education; Board of Ovie Brume Foundation; Board of Governors, Ansar Ur-Deen Grammar School, Surulere, Lagos; Executive Committee, Isale Eko Descendants’ Union; and, Chair, Culture Committee, Isale Eko Descendants Union. He is a member of Lagos Polo Club, Ikoyi Club, Eko Club, and Ibom Golf Club.

‘Wale continues to contribute to the body of knowledge in the legal profession, pioneering a dedicated publication of judgments in relation to electricity cases and leading research for the Electricity Law Reports and the Electricity Digest.

‘Wale Irokosu holds a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Maritime Law from the University of Wales, Cardiff; a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Central England, Birmingham and is an alumnus of the Nigerian Law School. He is a member of the Institute of Directors (IoD); Associate Member, Institute of Chartered Ship-brokers (ICS); Associate, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK; Member, Chartered Institute of Taxation, amongst other associations. He is the Founder of Rap Joint Lagos.
